Ok. Ni sket info lah nak kongsi. Sharing is caring kan? Auwww..

Selalu lepas bersalin, tali pusat tu takder buat mende kan? Aritu, time ke FMGC untuk buat detailed scan kat sana. Yelah, kan lil Hazel ni sangat precious . So, nak check semua lah.. blood flow, lung, heart chambers.. semua tu. Sambil tunggu turn, di datangi lah oleh this amoi yang kiut. Time pergi tu, sekali ngan in-laws. So, bla bla blaa.. dia duk explain laa pasal stem cell. Memang ada plan nak amek tapi takder approach mana mana company lagi.

Amoi ni dari CryoCord. Dia pun explain laa.. bla bla bla… yada yada yada. Isi la satu form ni. So, a week b4 balik KB ni aritu, dia anta sms. Ada promotion. Cantek lah… Contact balik. Set appointment.. so, amoi ni pun ok nak datang rumah terus.

Upon registration, CryoCord beri semua ni (collection kit). Dalam folder tu, ader blood collection bag untuk letak cord blood. Ader jugak macam macam keperluan untuk nurse/doktor yang akan amek cord blood tu. FYI, yang akan collect cord blood ni ialah doktor/nurse yang attend kiter time delivery. Then only baru CryoCord punya staff akan datang and collect untuk di bawa ke lab diorang yang bertempat di Cyberjaya. Since CryoCord ni antara pioneer kat Malaysia dalam pasal stem cell banking ni, maka diorang jadik pilihan utama kami suami isteri (phewitttt). Ader gak company lain.

Lagipun, skang ni tengah ada promotion plak tu. Untuk 20 tahun punya banking fee, ada 50% disc. So, memang berbaloi lah. Kalau cord blood yang dikutip tak sesuai untuk penyimpanan, duit akan di refund 100%. Kalau stem cell yang di simpan rosak, akan dapat duit pampasan. Kalau cord blood rosak semasa transportation dari tempat bersalin ke lab dioang tu pun, diorang akan bayar pampasan. Ada insurance cover jugak.

Kenapa nak simpan cord blood ni ? Cewah.. buat soklan plak.

Umbilical cord blood, otherwise known simply as ‘cord blood’ or ‘placental blood’, is the blood that remains in the newborn’s umbilical cord and placenta following birth. In the past, cord blood was considered medical waste and if often discarded, although it is a rich and valuable source of stem cells. It provides a painless, safe and non-controversial means of acquiring stem cells that can be used to treat patients with rare blood disorders.

Cord blood stem cells, which are predominantly Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), are the key to building blocks of the human blood and immune system. In other words, HSCs have the potential to generate blood cells and cells of the human immune system. These cells are less prone to develop Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD) because they are more primitive in nature, hence the chance for rejection is less compared to stem cells harvested from adults.

Stem cells that have been isolated from cord blood manually or by using AXP™ AutoXpress Platform are ultimately stored in a cryogenic preservation tank at -190º Celcius in vapour phase.

Why Store Cord Blood Stem Cells?

Simple, quick and painless collection protocol that does not interfere nor complicates the delivery process. Generally preferred to adult peripheral blood transplantation due to lower likelihood of complication. No ethical controversies.

Basically, kegunaan untuk penyakit penyakit yang memerlukan sel darah lah kiranya. Lebih kurang lah. Cam leukimia, parkinson ke, brain tumor.. macam macam lagi. Selalunya, mak bapak baby pun bleh guna cord blood baby ni. Lagipun, reason utama apply ni sebab history si lil Hazel lah kan (for those yang tau citer). Kiter tak tau kemungkinan apa yang ada. So, ini ni cam backup plan lah. Tapi harapnya, semua ok. Insyallah..
